Why become a member?
  • BAGIS is committed to promoting excellence in clinical practice, clinical research, training and education in the field of healthcare for transgender and gender non-conforming people. BAGIS has different categories of membership to reflect the variety of training, knowledge and experience that people may have. By becoming a member you are committing to this principal and are joining us in seeking to provide the highest standards of healthcare for our clients.

  • As part of applying for membership, you will be asked what details you would like to be publicly available on this website, with the intention that clients can be reassured as to the experience, knowledge and skills of any practitioners they are seeing.

  • All members have the opportunity to attend our annual Symposium, for a reduced fee. As a full member you will also be entitled to stand for committee, vote in elections and therefore help direct the future of BAGIS.

  • Membership is not a replacement for professional registration. Membership is for individuals and not organisations or services.  Membership should not be used as a post-nominal.

  • Membership application requires the support of two referees. One can be your line manager or another person who is aware of your work, but one must be an existing member of BAGIS.  References can be provided by current members and members from the previous membership year.

  • Applicants are expected to have an up to date appraisal or other work-based review.

  • Full and provisional members are expected to participate in supervision. This can take the form of formal supervision, peer supervision or within a multidisciplinary team.

  • Full members are expected to engage in regular CPD activities, relevant to their area of practice.

PLEASE NOTE: THE NEW MEMBERSHIP YEAR COMMENCES EACH NOVEMBER.

APPLICATIONS FOR MEMBERSHIP YEAR 2018/19 ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED.
